Episode 1

Guest: Sarah Stenton, Founder of Middle Age Madness

We kick things off with a proper introduction to who I am, a friend, a survivor, and a self-confessed “rock star”, before diving into how Sarah’s  Middle Age Madness was born out of sheer frustration with the menopause.

Sarah shares what life looked like before her pivot: running an estate agency, molding herself to fit in, and slowly losing sight of who she was. Then we explore the “perfect storm” that changed everything, COVID, mounting business stress, and the terrifying moment her husband collapsed from a blood clot. I open up about my own story: the 10-mile run, the brain hemorrhage, and what it felt like when my body finally said "no".

We talk about the clarity that comes after a forced stop and how facing fear, whether on social media or in front of a mirror, has shaped our new chapters. Sarah gets honest about body confidence, posting a video in a swimsuit, and explains why she chose to protect her peace that day.

We share the power of becoming your own biggest cheerleader, the importance of letting go of people who make you feel smaller, and how the menopause, for all its havoc, can strip away the bullshit and help you step into what Sarah calls "cronehood". We discuss the ripple effect of holding each other’s hands through hard times, the challenge of dealing with online trolls, and why, after everything, life finally feels calm, fabulous, and exactly where we’re meant to be.

Episode 2

Guest: Dylan

This episode of The Pivot for Life Podcast is a little different — and one that will stay with you.

Today, Jo sits down with her friend Dylan, who is currently living with Motor Neurone Disease.

While many conversations on this podcast explore the pivots we choose, this episode explores something deeper — what happens when life takes a direction we never expected, and how we choose to respond in the face of it.

With honesty, warmth, and moments of humour, Dylan shares what life was like before his diagnosis, how he processed the news, and what the journey has been like for him and those closest to him.

But more than anything, this conversation is about perspective.

It’s about what really matters, how we show up for each day, and the quiet, powerful courage that exists even in the most difficult circumstances.

This is a deeply human conversation — one that invites us all to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what truly matters in our own lives.

Some fun facts about me...

Yoga at heart – When I’m not working, I’m on my mat, simply being rather than doing. It’s my way of finding calm and reconnecting, which I bring into my work with others.

Author at heart – During my brain haemorrhage recovery, I wrote a novel inspired by a true family story. Writing at this time became a lifeline.

Midnight laughter – I’ve been told I laugh in my sleep and wake myself (and my husband!) up. No idea why — but maybe it’s life’s way of reminding me to find joy, even in rest.

Sunglasses a must – Since my brain haemorrhage, my eyes are sensitive to light, so you’ll usually see me wearing my signature sunglasses — a necessity and a reminder of how far I’ve come.
